Are you up for the challenge? As part of the Crisis Management Cell (CMC) Modernization Project, the Security Operations (SECOPS) is actively looking for a Senior Watch Officer. The Privy Council Office is a unique place to work and we’re looking at recruiting top talents. The Privy Council Office is like no other organization in the Government of Canada. The SECOPS is responsible for providing security services to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Offices of the Portfolio Ministers and the Privy Council Office. Its roles and responsibilities are: management of departmental security, policy development and implementation, national security support, lead security agency function and supporting continuity of constitutional government.
The CMC’s mission is to provide 24/7 security event management by monitoring, reporting and coordinating support to the Privy Council Office, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Chief Security Officers with timely and relevant information on a wide range of high-visibility issues that could affect departmental and/or GC personnel, information or assets, and the continuity of their critical services or operations.
As a decision-support hub, the CMC and its dedicated cadre of Security and EM professionals provides the Privy Council Office senior executives with a versatile, 24/7 capability to rapidly convert course-of-action decisions into viable operational plans, and to then coordinate their implementation with external partners.
As a Senior Watch Officer, you’ll move fast and adjust quickly by rolling up your sleeves to get the job done. Every day is different and you’ll use your experience and judgement to:
• Anticipate issues, tackle the tough ones, and align the stars for success;
• Use problem solving techniques to deal with sensitive and difficult issues requiring innovative solutions;
• Analyze complex situations and make decisions and recommendations;
• Collaborate with the highest levels of government and intergovernmental stakeholders;
• Maintain your cool in a high-octane operational environment.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
Recent* experience working in the field of security and/or emergency management.
Experience in the development and implementation of procedures related to security and/or emergency management.
Experience analysing information and coordinating response efforts to crisis situations such as fire, bomb threat, workplace violence, demonstrations/occupations, strikes/labour disputes, sudden illness/injury, intruder/trespassers, natural and other disasters.
Experience in supervising employees.
Experience preparing reports and/or correspondence.
*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired over the last three (3) years.
EXPERIENCE (ASSET)
Experience working in a federal/provincial/territorial emergency operations centre.
Experience in making decisions in a stressful environment (i.e. in an operations centre, as a member of an emergency response team, or similar security related environment).
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the Emergency Management Act.
Knowledge of the TBS security policy, its related directives and standards.
Knowledge of the Incident Command System.
