This position will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and inspections, as well as repairs on a variety of mechanical building systems. The Machinery Maintenance Worker is responsible for documenting work activities, recording data and ordering parts and supplies. In addition, the incumbent is required to use a variety of diagnostic equipment. and to have an understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) principles. The incumbent may also be required to act as liaison between AAFC and trades personnel.
As one of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research sites, the Beaverlodge Research Farm is located in Beaverlodge, Alberta. The Beaverlodge site is responsible for conducting various agricultural research studies for the Government of Canada. This position works in conjunction with a staff of 2 other employees to support the research by ensuring that the facilities and infrastructure are maintained in accordance with regulated maintenance and codes as well by meeting the requirements of the research programs at the Beaverlodge Research Farm.
The immediate need is to staff one position for a one year term.
A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures as well as various linguistic requirements.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, they may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Experience working with hot water heating.
Experience working with trade contractors.
Experience working with computers and computer software programs such but not limited to Microsoft word, and Excel.

Knowledge of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, maintenance techniques and preventative maintenance practices related to commercial buildings.

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
Ability and willingness to work in dirty, noisy, humid, hot, cold, and wet conditions.
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally work overtime and be on call schedule.
Ability and willingness to work on call for 24 hours a day on a rotating schedule and the ability to respond in a timely manner (responding to urgent facility operational problems within 30 minutes of being called out to work).
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's license or equivalent or personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver's license.
