Possession of a valid Manitoba or Inter-Provincial Journeyman’s Certificate as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic.
Possession of a valid vehicle air brakes operator’s qualification (commercial air brakes).
Experience:
Recent* experience working as a mechanic in the repair and maintenance of commercial automotive and/or heavy duty equipment.
*Recent experience is defined as “experience acquired within the last 5 years.

Operational Requirements:
Willing and able to work overtime as pre-authorized.
Willing and able to work standby or call-back, may be called in for emergency repairs.

Security: Reliability status
Possession of a valid (unrestricted and non-graduated) Canadian provincial or territorial driver's license such as a Class 5 License in Manitoba.
Must wear CSA approved safety footwear at all times and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Possession of, or, ability to obtain/retain a DND 404.
An acceptable clean driver’s abstract dated no later than 90 days before the date of appointment which a candidate is notified of being considered for appointment.

Candidates must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to a position, however, a person may be appointed to a position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. Meeting these criteria is nonetheless desirable and may be a deciding factor for the staffing of some positions.
Management may choose to use one or more Asset Qualifications at the pre-screening stage to determine the number of applicants who will advance to the following stage of the selection process.
