KEY FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Research, gather and analyse scientific information in order to provide advice on environmental policy and technical issues at the national and international levels;
Review, analyse and advise on national and international technical documents on issues to support priorities and issues of the department;
Prepare briefing notes, science-based summaries and reports;
Participate in planning activities, preparation of requests for proposals.
The intent of this process is to staff up to three (3) indeterminate positions in the Plastics and Waste Management Directorate and the Industrial Sectors and Chemicals Directorate. As well, a pool may be created to staff other similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, acting extensions, assignment, secondment) and/or language requirements (English Essential or Bilingual imperative) and profile (BBB/BBB) within Environment and Climate Change Canada across Canada.

Education:
ED1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with an acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
EX1. Experience in researching, gathering and analyzing scientific or environmental information.
EX2. Experience in authoring reports related to the environment or the management of natural resources.
AED1. Graduation with an advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a discipline relevant to the study and management of environmental issues.
