Duties

-Provide assistance and coordination of planned activities related to the management of commercial, scientific, recreational and Aboriginal fisheries in the Gulf Region.
-Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on a variety of issues related to fisheries management.
-Coordinate and participate in various meetings with internal and external clients; tasks could include taking minutes, preparing agendas, and preparing materials and equipment for the effective delivery of the meetings.
-Review and provide input to the development of various documents including policies, guidelines, Integrated Fisheries Management Plans, Conservation Harvesting Plans, Variation Orders, conditions of licence and agreements.
-Deal with diverse requests from internal and external clients including other government departments, fishing industry, Aboriginal groups, other stakeholders and the public.

Intent of the process

To establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures at the Gulf Fisheries center of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada located in Moncton, NB and in the area offices located in Tracadie, NB, Charlottetown, PE and Antigonish, NS.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two (2) years post-secondary education from a recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CEGEP, university) or an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
Experience in developing written materials such as reports, minutes, agreements, presentations OR memoranda.
Experience in collaborating and maintaining relationships with partners/clients.
Experience in gathering and analyzing information to assist decision making.

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
Experience in the establishment of cooperative working relationships with other government departments or other stakeholder groups in the fishing industry such as commercial, recreational or the aquaculture.
Experience in the delivery of projects, programs or services.
Experience working with Indigenous groups.
Experience working in fisheries resource management.
