The Northwest Territories Regional Office (NWTRO) is responsible for the prosecution of all federal offences in the NWT. The regional headquarters is located in Yellowknife. Communities throughout the NWT are served by circuit in both the Territorial and Supreme Court and prosecutors travel by air to some 20 communities and by road to one community. Yellowknife sits on the shore of Great Slave Lake, the tenth largest lake in the world. There are many attractions, seasonal festivities and plenty of activities to take part in year round for everybody to enjoy.
Additional benefits of working in the Northwest Territories Regional Office:
1) In addition to your base salary, you will receive an Isolated Post Allowance (Northern Allowance) which ranges from $18,375 - $25,431 annually depending on your circumstances.
2) In addition to your base salary and your Isolated Post Allowance, you will also receive a Vacation Travel Assistance (VTA) once a year that will support you to travel on vacation outside of the territory - approximately $1030 per year per person.

Education:
- Successful completion by June 29, 2021 of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Asset Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Northern environment.
- Experience working in a legal environment.
- Experience maintaining a tracking or follow-up system.
- Experience in preparing financial documents.
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, particularly in Indigenous communities.
- Ability to supervise.

This inventory may be used to staff various administrative and clerical roles, including the following:
Administrative Clerk (CR-05): This position is responsible for the organization and opening of legal files for court proceedings. They are also in charge of the organization of files in the registry room and the closing and archiving of concluded files.
Finance Specialist (CR-05): This position is in charge of coordinating and booking all court related travel for the office. They prepare travel claims for submission and are the point of contact for any travel disruptions.
Support Services Coordinator (AS-01): This position handles all financial payments for the office, this includes reconciling office credit cards, invoice payments, and vacation travel assistance submissions. This may also include arranging travel for staff or witnesses when needed.
Legal Assistant (CR-05): Legal Assistants provide support to PPSC Prosecutors by organizing and distributing disclosure, requesting documents from the court and organizing prosecution files. Legal Assistants also help prepare files for trial and sentencing, review court dockets to pull files for court and input case status into the PPSC database.
Legal Assistant Supervisor (CR-06): The Legal Assistant Supervisor supervisors the Legal Assistants including monitoring attendance, doing performance reviews and mentoring. They also have legal assistant tasks of their own and are normally responsible for providing support for more serious or complex criminal files.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
