Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar or identical positions of the same or equivalent group and level, with various tenures, various language requirements, and/or various security clearance levels with Veterans Affairs Canada and other Federal Government Departments.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. If not an acceptable specialization, candidate must have a degree and three years experience in the experience areas outlined below.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Recent* experience in coordinating and/or leading projects.
2. Recent* and significant** experience in quantitative and qualitative research, including information/data collection, analysis and interpretation.
3. Recent* and significant** experience in preparing reports on the interpretation of complex information/data.
4. Recent* experience in providing advice and formulating recommendations to management (executive and above), including the preparation of briefing materials, and providing oral briefings.

*Recent experience is defined as within the last five (5) years.

**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience generally acquired in the full time performance of the duties over a period of 2 or more consecutive years.

Abilities:
1. Ability to analyze, synthesize, and articulate issues, trends, and data results***.

1. Professional Accounting Designation
2. Professional Institute of Internal Auditor’s designation (Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Government Auditing Professional, Internal Audit Practitioner, etc.)

4. Credentialed Evaluator Designation

Degree equivalency

Asset Experience Qualifications:
1. Experience serving as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces
2. Experience in internal audit and/or evaluation of programs
3. Experience in leading the delivery of Veterans Affairs Canada programs or services
4. Recent* and significant** experience in providing advice on performance measurement
5. Experience working at Veterans Affairs Canada or working on Veterans’ issues/files.
6. Recent* experience in managing human resources.

PLEASE NOTE: Should candidates be invited to the Simulation, it will take place in March 2020.

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
