Duties

Key Duties of a Custodian:
- Providing diversified cleaning service to specific buildings and/or areas including operating industrial janitorial equipment
- Removal of ice/snow/garbage and recycling
- Relamping light fixtures
- Performing minor maintenance and minor service to janitorial equipment.

Custodian Work Shifts:
There are various work shifts for the unit. These shifts could vary depending on unit needs, but the following list are the main shifts worked.

Part-time Shift (20 hours/week):
- Saturday and Sunday (6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
Full-time Shifts (40 hours/week):
- Monday to Friday (5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
- Monday to Friday (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)
- Monday to Friday (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

Intent of the process

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment prior to May 21, 2020 (deeming date), the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Furthermore, CM staffing transactions resulting from this process will be administered in accordance with the Onboarding Transition Phase until deeming day.

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
