You will be called upon to provide executive, administrative and legal support services, as well as office management services, to one or more Judges or Prothonotaries of the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and the Tax Court of Canada.
The duties include, but are not limited to:
• preparing, proofreading, editing and formatting legal and administrative documents;
• managing and coordinating the assignment schedule and agenda;
• providing logistical support and making travel and hospitality arrangements;
• planning, organizing and implementing arrangements for the appointments and attendance at meetings, committees and seminars; and
• monitoring and submitting incidental, travel, and conference allowance claims in accordance with the applicable policy, directives and guidelines.
The Courts Administration Service (CAS) provides services to the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and the Tax Court of Canada.

Successful completion of a post-secondary program, certificate or diploma relevant to the position, such as paralegal studies or legal studies OR an acceptable combination of education, training or experience relevant to the position*.

*Acceptable combination of education, training or experience relevant to the position is defined as a high school graduation (grade 12 or Secondary V) and two (2) years of work experience in a judicial, quasi-judicial **or legal environment.
**Judicial or quasi-judicial environment is defined as a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).
Significant* experience working in a judicial, quasi-judicial **or legal environment.
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite software such as: Word, Outlook or Excel.

*Significant experience is defined as the breadth and depth of experience and as a combination of time spent doing the activity (at least two(2) years), as well as type (range, scope, and complexity) of work handled related to the experience criteria.
**Judicial or quasi-judicial environment is defined as a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).

YOUR APPLICATION MUST ALSO CLEARLY EXPLAIN HOW YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING ASSETS:
Experience researching information using legal research tools.
Experience transcribing information from voice recordings, handwritten notes, electronic legal text transmissions or digital audio recordings.
Experience in preparing (e.g. typing, formatting and editing) lengthy documents within tight deadlines.
Experience working at Courts Administration Service.
Experience working for several members of the judiciary or lawyers at once, and juggling conflicting priorities and deadlines of these persons.
Experience in preparing and formatting documents that comply with Web Accessibility standards.
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite software such as: Powerpoint.
Experience making travel and accommodation arrangements.
Significant* experience as a judicial or legal assistant or legal secretary.

Secret security clearance
Depending on the position, additional Conditions of Employment may apply, such as:
- Willing and able to work from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Willing and able to work overtime, often on short notice*
- Willing and able to travel using various commercial modes of transport*.
