The successful candidate will undertake graduate level research in the area of distributional impacts of fishery management regimes, particularly tradeable quota share systems, including impacts on potential new entrants and coastal communities.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Economic Analysis and Statistics) will provide the researcher affiliate with access to relevant data holdings within the department, a DFO office when required, and input and advice throughout the research project.
Researchers will be responsible for the preparation of a synthesis report that outlines the main research results and identifies policy implications of relevance to DFO.

EDUCATION
Ed1 | Being currently enrolled or eligible to enroll in a masters or doctorate degree at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Land and Food Systems, (Vancouver) that requires research as part of the curriculum.
Note: The research has to be undertaken as part of the requirements for a master’s or doctorate degree program on an applied economics discipline related to fisheries or natural resource management.
EXPERIENCE
Ex1 | Experience in researching economic or socio-economic issues.
Ex2 | Experience in analyzing and interpreting economic or socio-economic data.
Ex3 | Experience in drafting summaries, literature or report reviews, or presentations.
