Work environment

The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 different types of civilian career opportunities. Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff numerous indeterminate (permanent) or determinate (temporary) positions.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of National Defence in the National Capital Region, whose duration, language proficiencies and security profiles could vary depending on the position being staffed.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note).

Note:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
It is not sufficient to state that you meet the requirements or list your current responsibilities. In order to demonstrate that you meet this criteria, applicants are to adhere to the following:
• Provide concrete, specific examples of work that you have completed that directly address the selected essential qualification.
• Avoid slang terms, acronyms and abbreviations.
• Describe examples in sufficient detail to clearly illustrate to what extent and depth you have shown the experience for each essential qualification.
• Focus almost exclusively on what you did in the situation you are describing.
• Identify the period and duration of the example.

In order to be considered, your job application must demonstrate * that you hold significant experience**, gained within the last five years, with a minimum of four up to a maximum of six of the following essential qualifications.

* The number of words for responses to each of the four criteria selected must be a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 350.
** Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of duties for a minimum period of three (3) years.

You must demonstrate your experience using a minimum of four of the essential criteria, up to a maximum of six. In situations where more than six of the essential criteria have been selected, only the first six that have been completed on the application will be reviewed as part of the initial screening process.

1. Identifying, analyzing, and selecting procurement and/or sourcing options in order to develop procurement strategies and/or plans;

2. Developing or contributing to the development and/or implementation of a supply chain strategy;

3. Preparing procurement documents, which could include: reviewing statements of work or statements of requirement and/or preparing contracts against supply arrangements or standing offers;

4. Coordinating supply chain activities and/or providing logistics support;

5. Managing inventory levels and data accuracy, or investigating identified material discrepancies for a warehouse;

6. Leading various elements of contracting with industry, which could include: conducting solicitations and bid evaluations, selecting contract and terms and conditions, awarding contracts or conducting de-briefs with bidders;

7. Managing warehouse operations and/or warehouse data to monitor productivity and customer service levels;

8. Consulting and/or liaising with internal stakeholders, external partners, bidders and/or suppliers on activities related to procurement or materiel management; or

9. Developing or contributing to the development or analysis of policies, guidelines, procedures, or reports relating to procurement, contracting or materiel management activities.
