EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Significant* experience in the development, management and review of service-related programs or policies.
- Significant* experience in providing sensitive strategic advice, briefings and recommendations to senior management (Director General level or equivalent and above) on policy or program issues.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including Indigenous/First Nations organizations, other government departments, other levels of government, etc.
- Significant * experience in policy development.
- Experience in managing human** and financial*** resources.

Notes:
*Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various related activities which are normally acquired over a period over two (2) years.
** Some examples of managing human resources may include: supervising staff, establishing vision, priorities, work plans or establishing work objectives, conducting performance assessments and feedback, approving training, demonstrating experience in managing various service delivery and resources allocation frameworks, etc. Applicants must also indicate the number of staff they have supervised.
*** Some examples of managing financial resources may include: full delegation for a budget, being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.
EXPERIENCE (ASSET):
- Experience in dealing with socio-economic and labour market issues.
- Experience in engaging with First Nations, Inuit and Métis groups or communities on policy and/or programs issues.

KNOWLEDGE (ASSET):
Knowledge of the central decision-making machinery of the government of Canada and of the roles played by central agencies in First Nations, Métis and Inuit issues.
CURRENT AND/OR FUTURE ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness and ability to travel. Air travel to remote communities will be required.

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
