IITB is a national organization, with a wide variety of work that can be performed regardless of geographic location. However, certain positions may require a physical presence at a specific location.

Work environment

We are looking for staff for the IT Security team as part of the IITB. IITB (Innovation, Information and Technology Branch) provides the IT support to our more well-known entity, Service Canada. You will be working in a team under the Director of IT Security, that consists of approximately 70 people. We are growing and we are expecting more positions under the Director in the near future. You will be a part of a team that ensures that Canadian citizen’s information are kept safe.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and could also be used to staff similar positions at Employment and Social Development Canada with various tenures, various linguistic requirements, various security requirements and for various locations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed at the latest on October 31st, 2020 OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Note:
Candidates must have successfully completed two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program (Cegep, College, University) a the latest on October 31st, 2020.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

E1) *Recent experience working as an analyst or occupying a similar position in one or more of the following areas of IT:
a. Network architecture
b. Server administration
c. Database administration
d. Programming/Scripting
e. Network monitoring
f. Administration of email systems
g. Identity
h. Access management
i. Directory services
j. IT security operations
k. Classified systems

E2) *Recent experience contributing to an IT project, initiative or activity.

E3) *Recent experience in conducting technical research and analysis in an Information Technology (IT) environment.

E4) *Recent experience in providing IT advice and guidance to users.

*Recent experience is defined as experience normally gained within the last three (3) years.

OC5- (GIAC) Global Information Assurance Certification in one of the specializations under the Security Administration category as issued by SANS.

OC6- (OSCP / OSCE) Offensive Security Certified Professional or Offensive Security Certified Expert.

OC7- Successful completion of a CSE IT Security Learning Centre Programs of Study in relation to ITSG-33

A variety of assessment tools may be used in the assessment of candidates, such as: written test, practical test, situational exercise, oral interview, simulation, presentation, role play, work samples, performance appraisals, reference checks, and/or assessment board member personal/direct knowledge of candidates’ qualifications. Some assessment tools may be administered electronically, others, in-person.

Please note that asset qualifications, top-down and/or random selection may be used to identify which applications will be given further consideration.

Candidates must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. The
essential qualifications that are listed in the statement of merit criteria are mandatory.
Applicants may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In the event that there are as many applicants who meet the essential qualifications as there are vacancies, the manager may decide not to assess some or all of the asset qualifications.
