SCREENING QUESTIONS
It is not sufficient to only state that the qualification is met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. The intent of this process is to staff one GL-VHE-09 position on a two year term in Churchill, Manitoba.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment or acting opportunities) in Churchill, Manitoba within Transport Canada (TC).

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and recent experience relevant to the position.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of an interprovincial journeyman Heavy Equipment Repair Certificate.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in diagnosing failure and in overhauling diesel and gasoline engines.
Experience in diagnosing failure and in overhauling hydraulic systems.
EXPERIENCE
Emergency Response experience.
Experience using third party contracting/procurement.
Experience in airport winter operations.
Experience in airport Bird & Wildlife control.
English essential

Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP)

Minimum Class 3 driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
Availability and willingness to work overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, standby duty.

ISOLATED POST ALLOWANCE
In addition to the hourly rate of pay, the positions in Churchill, MB are subject to an Environmental Allowance, Fuel and Utilities Differential, and a Living Cost Differential as per the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive (https://www.njc-cnm.gc.ca/directive/d4/en)

Those selected for assessment should be prepared to provide the names and contact information of recent references (recent is defined as within the last 2 years):
References must be available, have an in-depth knowledge of your work/projects, and must be able to answer specific questions pertaining to your experience, achievements and strengths.
References that are not reachable and/or not available are lowering the candidates’ chances to be found fully qualified and be considered for appointment. When providing names of references, it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure they are available to respond in a timely manner.
