Duties

The Canadian Forces Housing Agency’s national office is seeking a dynamic Senior Technical Officer to spearhead residential asset management programming for housing units across the country. The incumbent will be the staff lead for a team of technical subject matter experts in housing infrastructure, design, construction and maintenance and will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams within CFHA, DND, and other government and industry client-partners and stakeholders.

Key activities will involve all aspects of program management associated with the provision of residential accommodation to ensure assets are constructed and maintained to a suitable standard and developing plans to meet the future residential needs of members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The incumbent will show their technical skills by:

• Formulating and managing project plans, from inception through to completion of the project;
• Researching, preparing and presenting documentation required for long-term projects (e.g. approvals, statements of work, projects charters, budgets, policies and procedures);
• Developing schedules for major or complex projects, detailing all activities required for successful completion;
• Keeping abreast of technical issues affecting residential construction and modification; and
• Preparing briefing notes and presentations.

As a Special Operating Agency reporting to the Department of National Defence (DND), CFHA contributes to the quality of life of CAF members and their families through the provision of housing services, and through the responsible and sustainable management of the Department’s housing infrastructure. We are a team of 300 federal public servants who work hard to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces families living in DND housing.

WHERE WE ARE LOCATED...
Please note that we are not moving to the DND Carling Campus, and currently have free parking. The CFHA Head Office is a leisurely 5 minute drive from the Walkley or Hunt Club exits on the 417. Our office is located at 2171 Thurston Drive, Ottawa.

Successful completion of a post-secondary program such as building-related engineering, architectural design or engineering technology at a recognized institution.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in providing advice and recommendations to senior management.
• Experience in networking or consulting with stakeholders who are internal and external to the organization.
• Experience in developing a national asset management program or construction/ architectural strategies, policies, programs, or standards.
• Experience supervising a team

• Experience in providing technical oversight of construction, renovation, repairs and maintenance.
• Experience in management of real property.
• Experience managing technical / engineering consultants in the fields of construction or Real Property.
