Assessment accommodation

Work environment

The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. The intent of this process is to staff 1 term position in Comox, BC.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures in various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Possession of a valid British Columbia or Inter-Provincial Journeyman’s Certificate in painting

NOTE: The Technician Qualification will be accepted at time of application, however, candidates will be required to obtain their Red Seal Certification prior to appointment.

EX1: Experience working as a painter in maintenance or construction environment.

EX2: Experience in operating and maintaining a variety of hand powered tools.

EX3: Recent and extensive experience in the preparation and application of finishing materials consistent with surrounding finishings.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

AQ1: WHMIS Certification.
AQ2: Fall Arrest Certification.
AQ3: Valid First Aid Certification.

AQ4: Experience using a computer including use of Microsoft Office Suite programs
AQ5: Experience in Window/Glass repairs
AQ6: Experience in roadway line marking
AQ7: Experience in Sign Making

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

COE1: CAF Technician Qualification will be accepted at time of application, however, candidates will be required to obtain their Red Seal Certification prior to appointment. For information on obtaining your Red Seal please visit the ITA Website for Holders of a Military Trade Certification.
COE2: Must possess and maintain a valid, non-graduated, and unrestricted provincial or territorial Class 5 driver's licence.
COE3: Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a Departmental driver’s license (DND 404).
COE4: Must be capable of heavy lifting.
COE5: Must be willing to wear and/or utilize Personal Protective Equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
COE6: Willing and able to work overtime, including working outside normal working hours and standby.
COE7: Willing and able to work at heights.
COE8: Willing and able to travel.
COE9: Willing and able to work outdoors, in confined spaces and in hot or cold environments.
