The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.
The intent of this process is to staff 1 term position in Comox, BC. This term position will be for 14 months. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures in various locations.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Significant and recent* experience providing advice to senior management on engineering-related issues.
Significant* experience directing a multi-disciplinary team.
Significant and recent* experience in construction project or program management through all stages of project delivery including business case analyses, risk management, financial management, design reviews, stakeholders engagement and contract management.
Experience managing multiple construction projects concurrently.
* Significant experience is defined as the depth of experience associated with the execution of a diverse range of complex activities that are normally acquired over a period of five years. This includes the extent, depth, complexity and diversity of tasks and cases and the degree of autonomy from those activities. Applicants must clearly demonstrate their roles and responsibilities relating to the experience.
* Recent means in the last five years.

Master’s degree in engineering, architecture, facility management, project management or other relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Certification in Canada as a project manager or facilities manager from a recognized organization.
Certified as a professional engineer in the province of British Columbia.
Experience applying Treasury Board policies as a program or project manager in a multi-disciplinary construction engineering environment.
Experience managing contracts within Treasury Board policies.
Experience developing and implementing energy management and conservation measures in a real property environment.
Experience directing consultant teams and construction contractors.
Experience overseeing and proving engineered construction drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of quality assurance management techniques and principles.
Reliability Status security clearance
Willing and able to climb ladders, work from heights and enter enclosed spaces while visiting work sites.
Willing and able to travel – note: this position may require a valid Canadian driver’s licence or mobility normally associated with a driver’s license.
Willing and able to work occasional overtime on short notice.
