NUNAVUT LAND CLAIMS AGREEMENT INFORMATION:
As part of its priority to advance reconciliation and renew Canada’s relationship with Indigenous peoples, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) are committed to hiring more Indigenous peoples into their workforce. Nunavut Inuit (beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) will be considered before other applicants (including persons with priority entitlement and Veterans).
IMPORTANT FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
1. Successful candidates may be eligible for staff housing and the reimbursement of relocation costs.
2. Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) range from $19,000 to $38,000, which is based on if the employee has dependents or is occupying staff housing.
3. Vacation Travel Assistance will be provided for each eligible member of the household.

STEP 2 – SCREENING THE APPLICATIONS
Your resume will be reviewed to determine if you have the following experience and education:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training, or experience.
Experience providing administrative support*
* While not exhaustive, the provision of administrative support services could include: electronic calendar management for others, arranging/reconciling travel requests, financial processing (invoice, purchase orders, etc.), processing of correspondence, coordination of administrative activities, logistical organization of conferences or videoconferences, preparation of contextual documents for meetings, etc.
The following competencies may be beneficial to some of the positions being staffed:
Ability to communicate in a local Indigenous language.
Experience in data entry
Experience in providing financial support services such as reconciling financial transactions; verifying and paying invoices; extracting, reconciling, interpreting and compiling financial information for use by management; preparing budgets and financial spreadsheets; creating contracts and/or purchase orders.
Experience organizing travel, conferences or meetings
Experience in maintaining filing systems
Experience working in an office environment
Experience providing customer service
Experience using an electronic mail software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, GroupWise, Gmail, etc).

In this position, you would be:
Working with Marine Communication and Traffic Services (MCTS) Officers.
Supporting the MCTS work unit in Iqaluit to continue their work of monitoring waterways and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels in Canadian waters.
Administrative Assistants perform a variety of duties which may include: reception; records management; data entry and retrieval; document creation, processing or tracking; coordinating or supporting meetings or events; and using and maintaining office equipment and supplies.
