The Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton is a strategic asset that’s established to provide 2nd and 3rd line support for planned and corrective maintenance requirements to the Pacific Naval Fleet, both locally and abroad (as required). Group 7 is a large multidisciplinary support component of the Production Department that is responsible to provide Material Management and Industrial Labouring functions to the organization.
The three tenants of the Trades Services role consist of;
1. Customer Service – Enabling work by providing proactive material and tooling support, and timely communication when issues arise
2. Material Availability – Research, ordering, hastening, and inventory management in support of planned and reactive work
3. Material Conveyance – Issuing, Work Order Pack-Ups, and prompt material conveyance between Inventory Control Points, Work Centers, Work Sites, and Reverse Logistics.
A pool of qualified candidates resulting from this process will be created to staff current and future vacancies, and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (permanent and temporary).

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• Possession of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
• Experience using a Material Management Information System(s) such as SAP
• Experience operating Material Handling Equipment (such as pallet trucks, carts, forklifts, dollies, etc.)
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Experience in Material Management
• Experience using or managing Hazardous Products/Waste, in accordance with WHMIS
Occupational Certification:
• Possession of a valid and unrestricted provincial or territorial driver’s license.
• Certification in a Material Management related discipline (such as; ‘Partsperson’ trade designation, designation from Supply Chain Canada (SCC), etc.)
Experience:
• Experience or training in one of the following trades employed at FMF Cape Breton: Boilermaker, Welder, Sheet Metal Worker, Lagger, Shipwright, Joiner, Painter, Rigger, Electroplater, Pipefitter, Mechanical Fitter, Refrigeration Mechanic, Facilities Mechanic, Industrial Electrician, Electronics Technician, Machinist, Instrument Repairman
• Experience working in a ship building or ship repair facility
• Experience using SAP
