Duties

The Director, Risk Data & Analytics will play an important leadership role within the newly formed Risk Data & Analytics function at OSFI. Reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer, this position will provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, oversight and guidance to ensure the effective management and analysis of risk data across the enterprise. Leading a team of data and analytics experts, and in partnership with key stakeholders in business and Information Management (IM)/ Information Technology (IT) teams, the Director will:

• As the corporate owner for Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions, work collaboratively with business data users and IM/IT partners to maximize value from these important investments.
• Maintain BI and data analytics subject matter expertise to facilitate solution enhancements, as well as to train and coach the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on new functionality.
• Develop and maintain a compliance framework for use of BI and analytical tools across the organization.
• Keep up to date with data management and BI best practice and trends that can facilitate the delivery of OSFI’s risk data & analytics vision.
• Provide status updates, presentations, recommendations and respond to enquiries from sector management and OSFI Executive.
• Develop, support and maintain a data management framework while also managing the delivery of data and analytics requests.
• Ensure the availability of qualified and motivated staff necessary to deliver on planned objectives.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• A degree from a post-secondary institution specializing in business, commerce, economics, statistics, mathematics, data analytics, computer science, or another relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Recent and significant experience working with modern BI and analytical tools.
• Recent and significant experience in coaching, managing and/or leading teams of people.
• Experience managing large volumes of data.
• Experience in conducting analysis using large volumes of data.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
You may be required to meet one or a combination of any of these asset experience criteria, and therefore, if you possess it you should provide details in your resume.

• Experience working with modern business intelligence tools such as: PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, SAS, MicroStrategy, Domo, Looker or related tools.
• Experience working with modern data prep and data engineering tools such as: Alteryx, Trifacta, Datameer, Paxata or related tools.
• Experience developing automated workflows for data management and analytical purposes.
• Experience in conducting analysis using financial data.
• Experience leading a data analytics team.
