Education
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position, or the employer-approved alternative for the SE classification.
Note: The employer-approved alternative for the SE classification is an acceptable master's or bachelor's degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree calibre.
Experience
Experience* working in or coordinating a national or international research or regulatory program related to food chemical safety.
Experience* in providing strategic advice on complex scientific issues to senior management.
*NOTE: Experience means a minimum of five complete years within the past ten.

Post-doctoral training in analytical chemistry, mammalian toxicology or chemical risk assessment.
Experience
Experience* leading a national or international research or regulatory program in food chemistry or mammalian toxicology in relation to risk assessment of chemicals (exposure assessment, hazard identification or hazard characterization).
Experience* assessing the safety of food additives, processing aids, food packaging materials or contaminants.
Experience* in conducting scientific risk assessments or development of risk assessment methodologies or development of risk assessment program elements.
Experience* leading or coordinating teams of scientific personnel responsible for chemical research or regulatory programs.
*NOTE: Experience means a minimum of five complete years within the past ten.
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including overtime.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
