The Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) is the largest branch of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and is the primary supplier of meteorological and water resources information in Canada. We have over 1300 employees spread across Canada in regional offices with the majority of our workforce located in Ontario. Our headquarters is located in the National Capital Region (Ottawa-Gatineau). The Science Section within the Prediction Services Directorate, and the Major Project Office Section, Forecast Systems Integration and Innovation Division within the Canadian Centre for Meteorological and Environmental Prediction are seeking qualified candidate(s) to join their teams located in Toronto and Montreal. Work will involve leading and/or supporting various scientific projects and applications related to the development and analysis of tools related to severe weather and remote sensing, climate, air quality, or ice services; or managing and/or supporting key forecast tools and applications, and the transformation and modernization of those tools and applications.
Candidates must respond to the screening questions by providing concrete examples which illustrate how they meet the essential and asset qualifications. For this selection process, please do not include/submit a covering letter.
Note that coop experience and major academic projects will be considered as experience.
A person may be appointed to the position without meeting any or all of the asset qualifications; however, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
This process is intended to establish a qualified pool of candidates that may be used to staff PC-2 positions in Toronto (Ontario), Montréal Island (Québec), Ottawa (Ontario) or Dartmouth (Nova Scotia) on an indeterminate or determinate basis with various language requirements according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, chemistry, geography, earth sciences or in a discipline in the sciences or engineering relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working on science issues within an interdisciplinary team environment.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Experience in computer coding (e.g., Python, TCL/TK, R, C, Perl).
• Experience in applying data analysis tools and methods.
• Experience writing technical or scientific documents (e.g., reports, notes, summaries).

EDUCATION
• A master's degree or Ph. D from a recognized post-secondary institution in atmospheric science or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in managing projects related to meteorology, climatology, air quality/health or environmental monitoring.
• Experience analyzing geospatial data or manipulating georeferenced data.
• Experience applying or developing automated decision systems.
• Experience in business analysis or project management.
KNOWLEDGE
