Western Economic Diversification is looking for an Administrative Assistant to join our team. If you are motivated and interested in an exciting opportunity in a dynamic department please apply.

We are looking for people who think independently, work creatively and enjoy working in a team environment to support the priorities of the department. As a Regional Administrative Assistant, you will be challenged to provide administrative, procurement, records management, reception and data entry services to the Alberta Regional Office and Headquarters of Western Economic Diversification Canada.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. This process may be used for various tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments) as well as various security requirements, language requirements and conditions of employment.

Education:
• Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Administrative services: experience providing a full range of administrative services including: data entry, monitoring information flow, and records management.
• Information and records management: experience in maintaining physical and/or electronic files (e.g. file scanning, indexing, retrieving, retention, archiving of data)
• Procurement and contracting: experience in providing general procurement and contracting support services (e.g. assisting in general procurement practices, ordering goods and supplies)
• Experience with information technology support: providing videoconferencing support and assistance with the configuration/usage of office technology
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite: with particular emphasis on Excel and Outlook or equivalent software systems.
• Experience in providing client service: such as mail services and responding to enquiries from the public.

• Successful completion of a post-secondary program in a field relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Asset Qualifications
• Experience providing recommendations to management.
• Experience providing administrative support in material management and accommodations.
• Experience managing conflicting priorities and meeting operational deadlines.
• Experience using a shared drive and electronic file management system, such as GCDocs.
• Experience using a corporate travel management system, such as HRG.
• Experience working in tracking software (such as GX, CRM, CCM).
