The Office of the DND/CAF Ombudsman investigates complaints and serves as a neutral third party on matters related to the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces. Acting independently of the chain of command and managers, the Ombudsman reports directly to the Minister of National Defence. The ultimate goal of the Office is to contribute to substantial and long-lasting improvements to the Defence community.

Our Office is located in downtown Ottawa, on 100 Metcalfe Street. Our building can easily be accessed by public transportation O Train, OC Transpo and STO (Gatineau). We are a few steps away from Sparks street, many restaurants and cafés.

Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff indeterminate, term, acting, and assignment positions in Ottawa, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

A random and/or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.

EDUCATION:
ED01. Secondary school diploma or a suitable combination of education, experience and training.

EXPERIENCE:
EX01. Experience in operating a computer and utilizing Microsoft Office Excel, Office and MS Outlook.

EX02. Experience in the delivery of administrative support in one or more of the following areas:

-Information Management
-Information Technology and Health and safety

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEX01. Experience in planning and coordinating activities, projects and initiatives within information and records management.
AEX02. Experience in working with a computerized financial management accounting system (SAP).
AEX03. Experience in working with a computerized Salary forecasting tool (SFT).
AEX04. Experience in tracking budget expenditures.
AEX05. Experience creating and producing financial reports for use by management.
AEX06. Experience making travel arrangements.
AEX07. Experience in providing administrative support to a manager including coordinating meetings; managing calendars; writing meeting minutes and preparing binders.
AEX08. Experience in providing HR support including assisting clients on HR procedures, Staffing processes, and required documents.
AEX09. Experience in planning and coordinating activities, and/ or projects and/or initiatives related to business planning and/or performance management and/or Corporate Reporting.
