Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is the engine that powers the Government of Canada. We support the daily operations of roughly 106 federal departments and agencies. This process will be used to staff an indeterminate position within PSPC Pacific Region. The pool may be used to staff permanent or temporary (such as a specified period appointments, indeterminate or casual) Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

Secondary school diploma or employer approved alternatives such as an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
BC or Interprovincial Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate
Experience working in the mechanical maintenance of industrial plant equipment (such as mobile cranes, self luffing cranes, work boats or other types of plant equipment and vehicles, minimum 3 years of recent related work experience)
Experience inspecting and/or testing cranes.
Experience working with other trades in self-directed work teams.
Experience working in an industrial or Ship Yard environment.
Experience in scheduling mechanical maintenance projects
Experience conducting inspections of mechanical parts and components.
English essential

Medical suitability
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's licence.
Willing and able to work at heights in excess of 200ft.
Willing and able to enter confined spaces.
Willing and able to wear protective equipment (i.e. hard hats and safety boots, respirators, hearing protection, Hi-Viz clothing etc)
Willingness to work shiftwork, overtime and weekends.
Experience operating a fork lift.
Experience operating work boats/tugboats.
Experience ordering/controlling supplies.
Possession of airbrakes endorsement.
Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic procedures.
Knowledge of diesel engines.
Knowledge of installation methods and techniques used when replacing fixtures, clutches, pneumatic operating systems/parts, motors, gears in systems.
Knowledge of disposal methods of contaminated waste and material.
Abilities to supervise non-trade staff.
Ability to determine work methods for the maintenance of cranes and plant equipment.
Placement of PSPC employees affected by work force adjustment. Placement of employees subject to current or future reorganization.
