- To sow, maintain and harvest plants grown in controlled environment conditions.
- To conduct crossing of plants as necessary.
- To collect and prepare plant material for genetic, biochemical or chemical analysis.
- To generate laboratory data.
- To perform data analyses of laboratory data sets to validate hypotheses.
- To interpret research data, write reports and present research results at workshops and scientific meetings.
- To interpret research data and present in the format of scientific manuscripts for publication in recognized peer-reviewed journals.
- To write and defend a Master or Doctor of Philosophy thesis; wherin the report of the work carried out during the project is reported.
The Saskatoon Research Centre is one of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s national network of research centres. The Centre, located in the heart of the Prairies in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, conducts research on prairie crops to support the agri-food industry in Western Canada. It is located on the campus of the University of Saskatchewan. It is the home of the Plant Gene Resources of Canada, an important international repository of crops. Research focuses include integrated strategies for sustainable cropping systems on the Canadian Prairies, genetic improvement of oilseed, legume, and forage crops, genetic resource conservation, characterization and utilization and development of bioproducts and bioresources from Canadian crops. The RAP positions will support genetic, genomics and/or biochemical research into crop improvement of the oilseed Camelina sativa.
Day to day work will take place at the Saskatoon Research Centre and at the University of Saskatchewan.
Laboratory work will require some prerequisite training.

EDUCATION
Currently accepted or willing and qualified to enroll in a MSc or PhD program in the Colleges of Arts and Science or Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in laboratory work relating to plant or microbial.
Experience in genomics and/or bioinformatics.
Experience in analysing and understanding research data.
Experience in conducting literature reviews and summarizing information.
Experience in writing research reports and making scientific presentations.
