The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) is a federal department responsible to ensure the integrity and marketability of grain for the domestic and international grain trade, from producer to global customer.

Education:
A degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable* combination of education, training and experience.
*Acceptable combination is considered as completion of secondary school and at least 3 years of recent** experience acquired in a field related to Real Property and Facilities Management.
**Recent is defined as experience acquired within the last 5 years.
Experience:
- Experience in managing complex* real property projects in an organization.
- Experience in developing real property management strategies, policies and plans in support of departmental operations and priorities.
- Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on emerging organizational issues in at least two (2) of the four (4) following areas: real property, facility management, project management, security management through verbal presentations, formal briefing notes and/or written reports.
- Experience in negotiating complex real property requirements with clients or suppliers.
- Experience in managing human resources, setting objectives, managing performance, assigning work and providing feedback.
Note: Managing people may include, but is not limited to, the process of supervising or developing others and being responsible for the results they deliver. You must indicate that you were responsible for addressing performance issues either as the direct supervisor or as the lead for a project. You must also demonstrate that you were responsible for developing work plans or establishing performance objectives for employees or team members.
*Complex refers to a project that involves stakeholders from multiple business units and/or organizations, approvals and oversight from senior management, and a budget of at least $1 million (including salary costs).

studies related to Real Property (such as real estate, architecture, engineering, interior
design).
- Accreditation* from an industry recognized Real Property Institute or association
(e.g. BOMA, CoreNet, IFMA, RPIC).
- Recognized professional designation in Property Management such as Facility
Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Management (CFM), Real Property
Administrator (RPA), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA), Project Management
Professional (PMP) or other related certification.
- Graduation with a degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in studies related to Human Resources Management.
*Accreditation is defined as having obtained official credentials or certification.
Experience:
- Experience in procurement and/or asset/material management.
- Experience in managing real property projects within a Government setting.
Secret security clearance
- Availability and willingness to travel.
- Availability and willingness to undertake and successfully complete on-going training and certification in real property, and related courses.

Appointment decisions may be based on one or more of the following criteria:
-Matching of the individual's experience or qualifications to the strengths and weaknesses of the work team;
-Matching of the individual's experience or qualifications to the specific duties of the position being staffed;
-Depth, breadth, type of work-specific experience;
-Level/degree of one or more competencies/qualifications.
All communication relating to this process, including email correspondence, may be used in the assessment of qualifications.
A “Top Down” assessment process may be used during any stage of the selection process. Please note that simply meeting the essential qualifications and/or achieving a pass mark on any of the assessment used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use breadth and depth of the screening criteria, assessed qualifications and/or a cut-off mark that is higher than the pass mark on any evaluation used throughout the process.

If invited, candidates will be required to attend, AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE, a technical / behavioural competency assessment to qualify for entrance into the development program (excluding employees of the Federal Public Service).
