The intent of this process is to staff one EG-04 position on a determinate basis for a period of 1 year.
A pool of qualified candidates will also be established through this process to staff identical or similar EG-04 positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Successful completion of post-secondary education from a recognized post-secondary institution in Chemical Technology, Laboratory Technology, or in another field related to the duties of the position, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience consulting with and providing technical advice, information or services in response to written and verbal requests related to the interpretation, validity or accessibility of the data or products
Experience in writing or contributing to scientific papers or technical documents.
Experience recommending new systems, standard specifications or methodologies

Experience operating and maintaining Gas Chromatographs
Experience performing wet chemistry such as filtration, titration and extraction
Experience operating and maintaining elemental analyzers including combustion or ICP instruments
Experience operating and maintaining distillation apparatus
Experience operating and maintaining physical properties analyzers such as Densitometers and automatic viscometers
Experience operating and maintaining adiabatic or scanning calorimeters
Experience setting up and performing contaminant transport experiments
Experience setting up and performing oil sands tailings experiments
Experience operating and maintaining ion chromatographs
Experience operating and maintaining dissolved/total inorganic and organic analysers.
Experience conducting experiments and analyses for oil sand tailings research such as settling tests, specific resistance to filtration (SFR), yield stress
Experience operating and maintaining particle size analysis instruments
Experience operating and maintaining surface tensiometers
