Intent of the process

« Anticipatory Staffing » This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates. The pool may be used to staff similar indeterminate, term or acting positions with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, various security requirements as well as tenures, which may vary according to the position being staffed.

Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Edmonton, Alberta and within a 40 kilometer radius.

Job offers resulting from this process will be for either PERMANENT or TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*.

* Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Degree equivalency

Recent** experience working with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Access.

** Recent experience signifies within the last two years.

6. Experience maintaining a law enforcement database.
7. Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving and/or destroying data.
8. Experience transcribing statements from audio cassettes or digital media.
9. Experience in providing services to internal and/or external clients.
10. Experience in providing administrative support services to senior management.
11. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

1. Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
2. Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
3. Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation, including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft, up to and including remote locations.

Conditions of employment

RCMP Security Clearance

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled will have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status, Secret, or Top Secret. This requires a security/reliability interview and a field investigation in matters of criminal activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Although only those candidates who successfully pass the interview will have their references contacted, by providing the references, you are consenting to these individuals being contacted.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
