Duties

We are looking for a Communications Captivator (Communications Officer) who is great at grabbing everyone’s attention with the right words and the right tools. Our Communications team is small so there is tremendous potential for an enthusiastic, dynamic and creative person to gain experience in a variety of areas.

You would be responsible for a variety of communications services, including support for:
- writing;
- social media;
- implementation of communications and outreach strategies; and
- other communications activities as required.

You will use your “can-do” attitude and some juggling skills to handle multiple priorities and seek opportunities. You are an ambassador for client service and curator of engagement. There is nothing plain about you, and your ability to think, speak and write in a way that draws people in is one of your super-powers.

You will:
- Support the development of communications products for the whole organization using traditional methods, but also pitching new, innovative ways to get our messages out to other OSFI employees as well as other stakeholders and the public.
- Bring enthusiasm and ingenuity to promote OSFI’s communications activities, announcements, and events through multiple platforms.
- Have a keen eye for detail as you review, edit and format information products.
- Provide social media and digital communications support to senior advisors and management.
- Seek new and creative opportunities to promote OSFI in an evolving digital landscape.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position with a language requirement of bilingual imperative CBC/CBC on an indeterminate basis.

A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, acting, etc.) and/or security requirements (reliability, secret, etc.) within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.

EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a *degree from a post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in communications, marketing, business or some other specialty relevant to the position.
OR
- An acceptable combination of education, training and experience

*The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in internal communications (i.e. internal to an organization).
- Experience in writing and editing a variety of communications products such as internal articles, social media content, web content, infographics, and digital display content
- Experience in working directly with internal clients and using various communications tactics and tools to meet communications objectives and reach target audiences.
- Experience in researching or analyzing topics or current issues and synthesizing information from a variety of sources to produce communications products.
- Experience contributing to the development and implementation of communications plans.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:

As a Separate Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) appoints employees in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). OSFI is named in Schedule V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and it offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core Federal Public Service. In addition to this, OSFI employees obtain a minimum of 4 weeks of vacation leave per year, earn a competitive salary, and are eligible for an annual performance bonus.
