In this role, you will:
Lead a small, geographically dispersed team of technical support staff as they provide excellent service to IT infrastructure clients. The role includes supervision of helpdesk resources, IT Service Management process monitoring, reporting and improvement, coordination of software and hardware rollouts, asset management, incident management and IT procurement coordination.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) full-time indeterminate position.

A pool may be created to staff similar positions with various linguistic profiles and tenures (indeterminate, specified term, acting, deployment, assignment, secondment).

Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed*.

Notes:
1.Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

2.It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.

3.At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

*A candidate who does not meet the minimum education requirement must demonstrate at least 3 years of IT-related experience for each year of post-secondary studies in IM/IT that the candidate does not have. (As illustration, a candidate that has completed high school would require 6-year’s work experience.)

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Recent* experience in providing technical advice and guidance to management and/or colleagues and/or clients, in the delivery of IT solutions.
- Recent* experience leading at least two (2) IT activities or projects with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in prioritizing and/or coordinating IT Infrastructure workloads (describe all that apply as well as breadth and depth).

*Recent means the experience was gained no more than three years in the past.

- 3-year diploma from a recognized college with specialization in Computer Sciences, Application Engineering or any other field relevant to the position.
- A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with specialization in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or any other field relevant to the position.
- Professional Certifications: i.e., ITIL, CCNA, Project Management, or any other certifications relevant to the position and recognized in the IM/IT field.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Recent* experience in a leadership role in IT Infrastructure projects.
- Recent* and significant** experience supervising an IT Service Desk or Helpdesk team.
- Experience in using enterprise IT Service Management tools to standardize and/or improve Service Desk processes.
- Experience providing computer related technical support over the phone or via email in a helpdesk environment.
- Experience coordinating or leading software rollout or operating system upgrade projects.
- Experience in supporting applications (including Microsoft Office) in a networked Microsoft Windows environment.
- Experience installing, configuring and supporting video conferencing systems.
- Experience with government procurement tasks, processes and procedures.
- Experience working in the Grain Industry in Canada.
