The Northwest Territories Regional Office of the Public Prosecution Service of Canada is located in Yellowknife. As an IT Support Technician working in Yellowknife, you will join a dedicated and collaborative team of IT professionals located across Canada. You will quickly gain a breadth of knowledge and experience as you support a variety of IT systems and assist clients with the use of the technology available to them.

Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff one indeterminate CS-01 position. The employee that currently occupies this position has advised that they will be receiving a letter of offer from another department for a start date in October or November this year.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process and may be used to staff similar positions at Public Prosecution Service of Canada in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, with varying tenures (such as indeterminate, specified period, acting, assignment/secondment) according to the position to be staffed. In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting or assignment/secondment opportunities. The approval of his/her substantive supervisor will be required before acting/assignment/secondment is offered.

Education:
- Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

NOTES: Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Recent* experience installing, configuring, maintaining and supporting personal computer hardware, peripherals and software.
- Recent* experience providing coaching on the use of hardware and software to clients both in person and remotely.
- Recent* experience in troubleshooting and supporting Windows 7 or Windows 10, the Microsoft Office 2013 suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) or higher, and Internet Explorer 10 or later version.

* Recent refers to experience obtained within the last five (5) years.

Asset Qualifications:
- Significant** experience installing, configuring, maintaining and supporting personal computer hardware, peripherals and software.
- Significant** experience providing coaching on the use of hardware and software to clients both in person and remotely.
- Significant** experience in troubleshooting and supporting Windows 7 or Windows 10, the Microsoft Office 2013 suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) or higher, and Internet Explorer 10 or later version.
- Experience supporting Adobe Acrobat Professional or FoxIT PhantomPDF.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Blackberry, Android or Apple mobile devices.
- Experience supporting Electronic Document Management Systems such as SharePoint and OpenText Content Server 10.5 or later.
- Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server 2012 or later version.
- Experience supporting Office 365 and related services.
- Experience in application development.
- A+ or Microsoft Certification

** Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of two (2) years.

Degree equivalency

Operational Requirements:
- Willing and able to lift, carry and place heavy objects of up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.
- Willing and able to travel (occasional travel as required with notice).
- Willing to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and/or statutory holidays as required.
