CanmetENERGY is interested in advancing technologies for the purification of CO2 produced by carbon capture technologies. As it relates to this Research Affiliate Program opportunity, CanmetENERGY is specifically interested in the elimination of molecular oxygen through catalytic combustion at elevated pressure. The candidate filling this position will be required to develop a computational fluid dynamics model of a micro integrated heat exchanger – reactor for the catalytic combustion of methane with oxygen for the purpose of CO2 purification.
This is a student position over a one year period (funding available until March 31, 2021) for a candidate completing a graduate thesis in Chemical Engineering.

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemical Engineering or some other applied science program relevant to the duties of the position.
Confirmed enrollment in a Master of Applied Science (MASc) program or a Doctorate of Philosophy Program (PhD) program in chemical engineering.
Demonstrated experience in the computational fluid dynamics modeling of combustion in micro reactors both in the fluid and on solid surfaces with incorporation of heat transfer and reaction in the models.
