Intent of the process

A list of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada. The pool may be used to initiate any appointment process for positions with various tenures, linguistic requirements and security requirements.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION

All positions:

Architect:
Graduation with a degree in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Landscape Architect and Urban Planner:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in landscape architecture or in urban planning, rural planning, community planning or some other specialty relevant to landscape architect and town planner positions.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

AND

AR-05 and AR-06 only:

Architect:
Registration as a professional architect in Canada.

Landscape Architect and Urban Planner:
Registration as a professional Landscape Architect or Urban Planner in Canada.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

The experience must be related to the discipline for which you apply. Please note that all disciplines are represented in AR classification. In this process, we are looking for the following levels: AR-04, AR-05, AR-06.

All positions:

E1. Significant experience* in providing professional services in the discipline.
AR-04: approximatively three (3) years of experience.
AR-05: approximatively eight (8) years of experience.
AR-06: approximatively twelve (12) years of experience.

E2. Significant experience* in providing advice in the following specialties:
- Design Development
- Building Code Conformance
- Inclusive Accessibility
- Building Science
- Master and Site Planning
- Building and Site Construction
- Sustainability

AR-04: significant experience in one (1) specialty or more.
AR-05 and AR-06: significant experience in two (2) specialties or more.

*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of relevant functions.

AR-06 only:

E3. At least three (3) years of recent** experience in supervision and management of financial and human resources, including professional architectural or landscape architecture or urban planning teams.

**Recent is defined as being approximatively within the last five (5) years.

- Project management
- Accessibility Legislation, Regulations and Standards

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

AEX1. Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Building envelope design
- Land use planning and land development
- Building Information Modeling, Collaboration Technologies or Virtual Design and Construction
- Stakeholder consultation and engagement

AEX2. Experience in providing professional functional advice, developing and implementing policies, standards, guidelines or best practices related to buildings, landscapes or urban environments.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

OR1. Willingness and ability to travel to locations throughout Canada and occasionally abroad.
OR2. Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion on short notice including weekends.

Conditions of employment

CE1. Various security requirements: Reliability to Secret.
CE2. Willingness and ability to work in and around construction sites including wearing protective equipment.

AR-05 and AR-06 only:

CE3. Maintaining registration as a professional architect or professional landscape architect/urban planner in Canada throughout duration of employment.
