A. Type of work:
QUALITY ASSURANCE REVIEW IN COMMISSIONNING MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL AREAS THAT APPLIES TO BUILDINGS.
B: Types of work you might be called upon to work on:
Equipment life cycle, maintenance requirements and evaluate performance. Options analysis detailing solutions and recommendations for building system issues; Standard operating procedures; Sequence of operation for building equipment; preparation and review of commissioning procedures; provide commissioning process oversight as well as review the design concept and installation plan; assist in delivering real property projects in a fast-paced environment, which includes, but is not limited to planning, construction, indoor air quality commissioning and evaluation of technical or architectural projects.
C. Systems type you may be asked to work on:
Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; fume hoods exhaust; plumbing systems; sanitary and storm systems; filtration systems; fire and life safety components; control systems; power distribution; lighting; data and voice cabling; security systems.
D. Buildings type you may be asked to work on:
General purpose office space; special purpose office spaces for high-security or high technology clients; laboratory and other special purpose spaces for research and development activities; conference centers and other public gathering spaces; museums and other similar cultural spaces and monuments; warehouses and storage structures; maintenance facilities and garages; agricultural buildings and parking structures.
E. Project type you may be asked to work on:
Renovation, rehabilitation and new construction.
You will be working in an environment that develops and maintains a corporate culture that is conducive to the use of both official languages, has the capacity to communicate with the Canadian public and with public servants in both official languages and maintains a public service workforce that tends to reflect the two official language communities.
A list of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada. The pool may be used to initiate any appointment process for positions with various tenures, linguistic requirements and security requirements.

EDUCATION:
Certification from a recognized post-secondary institution or from a trade institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience in a field related to construction such as engineering, mechanical, electrical, plumbing or instrumentation
LICENCE/CERTIFICATION:
Member of an accredited organization in Canada as a certified trade professional
EXPERIENCES:
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is important for the candidate to identify for which stream he/she wishes to be considered. The candidate should have experience in at least four (4) of the following areas in the stream he/she apply.
A. Mechanical stream:
- HVAC system: heating, ventilation, air conditioning (air cooling) indoor air quality
- Fire protection system
- Automation system
- Plumbing system and piping
- Mechanical systems maintenance
- Commissioning of mechanical equipment
or
B. Electrical stream:
- Electrical distribution systems; load analysis; coordination and arc flash studies; grounding systems
- Lighting systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Emergency power systems
- Control systems
- Commissioning and maintenance of electrical equipment
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
1) Experience in reading and reviewing plans.*
2) Experience working in a team environment related to the maintenance, installation or operation of various equipment that can be found in buildings.*
3) Experience in overseeing the work performed by the contracting parties (consultant, contractor) in compliance with the specified work requested.**
4) Experience in planning commissioning, preparing checklists, technical reports and functional performance testing and maintenance reports.**
The experiences will all be assessed in terms of the depth and breadth of activities, the complexity and diversity of work handled.
Experience * is defined as having approximately (7) seven years of experience which include (5) five years of Canadian experience in the mechanical or the electrical stream as described above.
Experience** is defined as having approximately (3) three years of Canadian experience in the mechanical or the electrical stream as described above.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Certificate or training in health and safety.
EXPERIENCES:
1) Experience in the detailed analysis of technical proposals, monitoring of the application of current codes and standards, as well as technical recommendations in testing and verification.
2) Experience in the assessment of maintenance requirements over the equipment life.
3) Experience in construction oversight or management and coordination of multi-disciplinary work teams related to maintenance.
4) Experience in the preparation of documents related to projects such as, but not limited to, schedules, notes of discussions, reports of fieldwork and records of decisions.
5) Experience in the supervision of construction works.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) Be willing and available to travel occasionally
2) Be willing and available to work overtime occasionally

OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1) Professional certification must be maintain throughout duration of employment.
2) Required to access and work in industrial settings and active construction sites.
3) Required to work occasionally inside mechanical or electrical rooms.
4) Required to enter confined spaces and climb ladders occasionally.
