PROGRAM 1: INSHORE RESCUE BOAT NORTH
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Be responsible for training and preparedness of crew members for SAR response;
Coordinate the response and provide assistance to mariners in distress, or in need of assistance;
Act as an Officer in Charge of a search and rescue (SAR) station as part of a team of four persons on a 14-day on / 14-day off schedule.
PROGRAM 2: ARCTIC COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND EXERCISING TEAM
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Lead a team of two who provide on-water and in-classroom training to members of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary and other search and rescue partners on a 14-day on / 14-day off schedule;
Participate in community engagement sessions, highlighting the Canadian Coast Guard and the programs and services it offers;
Travel to Arctic communities to provide this training and background information on Canadian Coast Guard programs and services.

These programs are operated by the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) under the SAR Program, and hires and trains students each summer to become members of an IRB Crew and as part of Arctic Community Engagement and Exercising Teams.

Real time experience in SAR operations;
Training by Canadian Coast Guard SAR Program Officers (subject-matter experts)
EMPLOYMENT DURATION:
Full-time during the summer (late-April to early-September 2020) under the condition of successful completion of the mandatory training prior to the operational season. Training will commence in late-April 2020.
The intent of this process is to staff various Search and Rescue positions within Canadian Coast Guard Arctic Region.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and could be used to staff these or similar positions with various tenures within the Canadian Coast Guard.

Significant experience in search and rescue (SAR) operations at a CCG Station or on a CCG vessel.**
**Significant experience is defined as 2 or more operational seasons operating CCG Zodiac 733s or 753s

Information on language requirements
Knowledge of applicable acts and regulations, such as the Collision Regulations, the Canada Shipping Act, and the Canada Labour Code Part II as they pertain to the operations of a CCG Fast Rescue Craft and SAR station.
Knowledge of procedures for search and rescue operations and the current manual.
Knowledge of northern land claims in the Inuit Nunangat.

Previous experience delivering presentations, training, programs or services to/with indigenous peoples
Reliability Status security clearance
Health Canada Periodic 3 and Transport Canada Marine Medical, as required.
Must be willing and able to travel.
Must be willing to wear and maintain a uniform per Canadian Coast Guard standards, inclusive of CSA approved safety footwear, and maintain job-related personal safety equipment.
Must be willing and able to work at any work or training location.
Must be willing and able to accept on-call duties.
Must be willing and able to work overtime.
Must be willing and able to accept a time on / time off work schedule.
Must be willing and able to adjust your current work schedule to match up with the program’s work and training schedule.
