Duties

As an indispensable part of the Translation Bureau family, you will be involved in every step of a translation request. Using computer tools like Office Suite, you will follow up with clients and colleagues responsible for the different parts of the translation process. To do this, you need good communication skills in both official languages and an aptitude for teamwork. If you are detailed-oriented, adaptable, autonomous and efficient, your place is here with us!

Your role as operations support clerk will also include populating translation tools to facilitate the work of your translator colleagues. You will have to ensure that translation files are complete in both official languages and do not contain any sensitive information or formatting issues before they are added to our database.

Work environment

The Translation Bureau helps the Government of Canada to preserve linguistic duality and communicate with Canadians in both official languages, as well as in Indigenous and foreign languages. Bringing together translators, interpreters, terminologists, and sizeable administrative support teams, the Translation Bureau is Canada’s largest employer of language professionals.

The Translation Bureau provides Canadians with access to a number of resources, including the Language Portal of Canada, and one of its featured products, TERMIUM Plus, TERMIUM Plus®. With over 4 million terms in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, TERMIUM Plus® is consulted at least 2 million times every month, in approximately 220 countries. It is one of the largest terminology and linguistic data banks in the world.

Intent of the process

The current need is to staff 3 temporary positions (term or casual contracts). We plan to use this process to staff other positions in the months to come.

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be created to staff positions of various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, assignment, term, acting, secondment or casuals). This process may also be used to staff other types of CR-04 positions with various tenure, linguistics profil or security requirement within Public Service and Procurement Canada.

Education:
A secondary school diploma.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Significant experience* in client service delivery
- General office experience
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment

* Significant experience means experience carrying out a wide range of client service activities. The amount, complexity and diversity of activities, as well as the autonomy level, will also be taken into consideration.
