EDUCATION
Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in a biological science

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience* in a laboratory conducting diagnostic screening or research projects involving molecular biology techniques e.g. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Reverse Transcriptase-PCR, real-time PCR; sequencing, bioinformatics
Experience* maintaining and preparing tissues for PCR assays, e.g. experience in DNA and/or RNA extraction

* Experience must be work or internship related. Experience through classroom or education only will not be considered

EXPERIENCE (ASSETS)
Experience working in a laboratory with a quality management system in place (e.g. ISO 17025 or other)
Experience doing fish or shellfish necropsy
Experience doing real-time PCR or RT-PCR
Experience doing water filtration
Experience with modelling of particle dispersion in water
Experience designing PCR primers
Experience with the manipulation and analysis of High Throughput Sequencing data
Experience with sample preparation for High Throughput Sequencing analysis
Experience doing statistical analysis e.g. analysis of variance, linear regression, etc
Experience using R or other statistical package
Experience with the cell culture of eukaryotic cells
Experience using mapping tools e.g. ArcGIS
Experience using LINUX
Experience doing immunofluorescence
Experience doing in situ hybridization
Experience preparing scientific reports, publications or laboratory protocols.
Experience with handling live fish in an experimental setup
Experience using a liquid handling robot
Experience using an electronic Laboratory Information Management System
