FOR EACH CRITERIA/ QUESTION, please provide the following MANDATORY information:

The answers provided to the screening questions will be the main source of information. "Asset qualifications" could be used either at the screening phase or to determine which candidate will be appointed. Therefore, if candidates meet the asset qualifications, they should also describe in their answers to the screening questions how they meet these qualifications using detailed and concrete examples.
1. Ensures safety and security of premises, assets and individuals; controls access and removal of government-owned items from the premises; registers and assists visitors and contractors; and provides/arranges for escorts.
2. Maintains constant surveillance, patrols and inspects premises and reports any suspicious items and unusual or illegal activities.
3. Monitors security systems (intrusion alarm, video monitors – closed circuit television (CCTV), radio communication systems, etc.) and determines and takes required actions in response to inquiries, events and emergencies.
4. Responds to emergency situations as directed; performs crowd control procedures; informs Departmental Security Division about the nature of the emergency and recommends follow-up action; conducts building searches and provides instructions and assistance to building occupants during emergency situations.
5. Prepares/reviews documents, electronic mail or reports on incidents, daily operations or emergency situations.
The intention of this process is to fill three determinate position. However, a pool of qualified candidates would be established to fill positions at Transport Canada.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
EXPERIENCE
- Recent* experience with physical security systems, including access control, intrusion monitoring, CCTV technology and digital surveillance
- Experience using a personal computer, and word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Recent* experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
*Recent is defined as within the last 3 years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- College Diploma in Security Management, Police
Foundation or other courses relevant to the Security field.
- Use of force training and certification and/or self-defense training techniques
- Experience working for the government in in safety and security field. Maintaining key system information and perform basic locksmith tasks, such as replacing door locksets, door cylinders, and cutting keys
- Experience in using an identification card and access control system to create and modify ID cards.
Secret security clearance
- Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice.
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 30 pounds), standing and walking for extended period of time. Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades. Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical and other environmental hazards.
