The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is part of the core public service administration named in Schedule IV of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and is also subject to the PSEA. This being said the TSB is an independent arm's length agency that reports to Parliament through the President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada. The organization aspires to be a modern world-class organization that evolves and adapts as it strives to influence changes that advance transportation safety. The TSB has a strong and credible reputation in Canada and around the world.
The TSB is a small organization with approximately 220 employees and 5 Board Members, including the Chair. The organization operates in a decentralized manner through 10 locations across Canada. Employees work in a collegial and collaborative environment.
Persons at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment. The intent of this process is to establish a pool of partially assessed candidates. Similar positions may be staffed through this process with various tenures, language profiles and/or requirements and security requirements.

Your résumé.
Successful completion of air traffic services training recognized by Transport Canada.
Possession of a Canadian Air Traffic Controller License.
Recent* and significant** experience in areas related to the provision of air traffic control services.
Experience in writing, reviewing and analyzing technical documents, manuals or reports.
* Recent experience means within the last 10 years.
** Significant experience means that the candidate must demonstrate career progression in terms of amount, complexity and diversity of work experience. This will be reflected through work in complex Control Towers and Terminal or Area Control Centers and through progression to supervisory, and/or instructor and/or managerial roles.

Knowledge of the Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board Act and Regulations.
Knowledge of the Transportation Safety Board investigation process and its occurrence classification policy.
Knowledge of the International standards and recommended practices of Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation (ICAO).
Knowledge of the civil air transportation system and the industry.
Knowledge of the system of airspace classification and structure used in Canada.
Knowledge of current trends in aviation safety, such as Safety Management System, Risk management and Human factors.

Education
1. Post-secondary courses related to supervision and project management.
2. Graduation with a degree from a recognized Canadian university with acceptable specialization in a discipline relevant to the position.
Occupational Certification
3. Possession of other aviation licenses (e.g. pilot or aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) license).
Experience
4. Experience in aviation accident investigation and in aviation safety programs.
5. Experience in working with international aviation organizations.
6. Experience in aviation operations as a pilot and/or air traffic controller outside North America

Agree to deploy to accident sites where there may be exposure to disagreeable and difficult working conditions and to extreme climatic conditions.

Agree to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, ship and air.
Willingness to be available on standby, on a rotational basis.
