Duties

The Chief Audit Executive (CAE) is responsible to the Superintendent for the design, development and implementation of an Office-wide program for the provision of internal audit services that provides assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. As an adjunct to the assurance role, and within their sphere of expertise, the CAE and the internal audit team will also provide advisory services and offer solution-oriented recommendations for improving risk management, control, and governance processes.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
● A recognized internal audit certification (CIA, CGAP, CISA, CRMA, CFE).

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Significant experience managing an audit function within a private or public organization, and planning and directing the work of professional auditing staff.
● Significant experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior executives on complex matters.
● Significant experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and/or external stakeholders at the executive level.
● Experience in managing human and financial resources.

ASSET EDUCATION
● A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA).

ASSET EXPERIENCE
You may be required to meet a combination of any of these asset experience criteria:

● Experience working in the financial services sector.
● Experience directing audits or investigations into allegations of wrongdoing.
● Experience in program evaluation, performance assessment or performance measurement.
● Experience in leading data analytics functions.
● Experience in conducting assessments of systems under development.
● Experience in providing advice to senior executives on major transformation initiatives (which may include initiatives with an IT component).

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
● Knowledge of the mandate and priorities of OSFI.
● Knowledge of financial institutions and private pension plans.
