Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate basis. However, a list of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to fill similar positions with various language requirements, tenures and security requirements within Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

A response to a text question addressing the following:

  • Reverse Reference check: You will have to answer three reverse reference questions and provide sufficient information for the evaluation committee to grade your responses. You must provide the name and contact information of a person that could validate your answers, such as a supervisor or a manager, as well as provide your relationship to this person (who cannot be a family member).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Acceptable combination is defined as:
1) Secondary School Diploma
2) Fishery Officer Career Progression Program (FOCPP) or successful completion of an accredited law enforcement program.
3) Extensive* experience related to law enforcement and/or Major Case Management

*Extensive means the depth and breadth of experience generally acquired in the full-time performance of duties for a minimum of three (3) years.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Significant* experience in investigating and/or managing major investigations/inspections
• Significant* experience in providing strategic advice to management
• Experience in preparing disclosure for the judicial processes
• Experience in obtaining Judicial Authorizations such as Search Warrants and/or Tracking Warrants and/or Production Orders
• Experience in managing personnel

*Significant means the breadth and depth of experience generally acquired over approximately two (2) or more years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:
• Successful completion of the Canadian Police College Major Case Management Course or equivalent*
• Successful completion of the Canadian Police College Major Crime Investigative Techniques Course or equivalent*

*Equivalent to be assessed by National Manager Digital Forensics/Major Case Management

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience in leading teams investigating large scale inspections and/or investigations
• Experience in drafting and reviewing operational plans
• Experience in budget management

• Significant knowledge of the Major Case Management methodology
