Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff this or similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the Newfoundland and Labrador Region on an indeterminate, specified period (term), acting, deployment, secondment, or assignment basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

Graduation from at least a two (2) year diploma program in construction management, civil, survey, architectural technology or related building technology from a recognized technical institute.
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

1. Experience in project management, including the renovation of existing facilities and/or construction of new facilities –
a. EG-04 Minimum of 1 years experience
b. EG-05 Minimum of 2 years experience
c. EG-06 minimum of 3 years experience

2. Experience with the use of computers and software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

3. Providing operational, technical and maintenance advice to Senior management or stakeholders/clients on building systems

Not applicable for EG06 Stream 1:

4. Experience in preventative maintenance practices as they apply to the operation of buildings (Example: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, life safety systems, and building envelope)

Knowledge:

1. Knowledge of the project management methodologies, techniques and practices
2. Knowledge of the principles of contracting
3. Knowledge of building codes, legislation, safety standards, polices and regulations as they relate to buildings and their occupants

3. Ability to read and interpret contracts/drawings/technical reports

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:
1. Experience in applying mitigative measures related (to) environmental assessments in construction projects.
2. Experience in using AutoCAD
3. Experience in managing federal real property projects
4. Experience in negotiating and resolving disagreements between project stakeholders or contract disputes
5. Experience in supervision
6. Experience in Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Conditions of employment

1. Willingness and ability to travel, including travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation
2. Willingness and ability to climb ladders, work at heights and in confined spaces
3. Willingness and ability to work overtime.
4. Willingness to wear Personal Protective equipment
5. Must possess a valid driver’s license
6. Must maintain a reliability status security clearance
