Reporting to the Regional Director of Science, the Manager of Science Advisory Services, manages the formal science review processes in the Fisheries and Oceans Gulf Region, under the Canadian Science Advisory Secretariate, provides overview of data and information management in the Science Branch, and plays a key role in the integrated management of Science Branch and its programs. This position manages the division’s budgets and a small division of staff, organizes and can chair formal science reviews, interacts with client groups, and is a member of the Science Branch management committee.
One position to be staffed indeterminately. A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions of various tenures within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Moncton, NB.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with in a biological, natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
Significant experience* in providing science advice and recommendations.
Significant experience* in communicating scientific information to scientific and public audiences.
Experience in coordinating and leading meetings involving people with varying levels of knowledge or expertise.
Experience in analyzing scientific data.
Experience in managing digital information systems for scientific purposes.
Experience in supervising human resources and financial resources for a program.
*Note: Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities for a period of approximately four (4) years.
ASSET EDUCATION
Masters or PhD degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with in a biological, natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
Significant experience in interacting with clients to deliver scientific products.
Significant experience in writing scientific publications such as technical reports or journal papers.
Significant experience in providing authoritative scientific advice related to biological resources.
Significant experience in managing digital information systems for scientific purposes.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
