Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions in various locations within the Supreme Court of Canada and the Department of Justice with various tenures (indeterminate, term, casuals, and acting appointments as well as deployments and secondments/assignments, Interchange Canada), various linguistic requirements and various security levels. If a pool is established following this staffing process, all federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) will be able to use it in order to staff similar positions across Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master's degree in library science or in library and information science; OR graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor's degree in library science or in library and information science for which another bachelor's degree was a prerequisite.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

EX1 Recent* and significant ** experience working in a library.

EX2 Experience in providing advice or recommendations on library services issues to management***.

EX3 Experience in planning and delivery of at least one library service line related to client services, reference or research services, electronic resources or systems, acquisitions, cataloguing, classification, or collection development and management.

EX4 Experience in the management of human resources, which includes supervision, planning, direction, coordination or performance management.

*Recent experience is defined as within the last 3 years.
**Significant experience means the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of the duties during a period of approximately 5 years.
***Management is defined as Director level or equivalent and above.
