This position is classified at the RE-03 level which is equivalent to the following group and level: AS-04.
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, Compensation, Benefits and Integrity, you will be responsible for providing a wide-range of pay related services to FCAC employees. Your key activities, as a Compensation Advisor will be:
• Conducting extensive and complex research and analysis on a variety of compensation subjects
• Determining employee entitlements, providing expert advice and resolution on entitlement issues
• Examining, analyzing and processing a wide variety of compensation and benefits transactions and maintaining the integrity of data in the Phoenix pay system (integrated environment)
• Analyzing employment histories to identify and correct historical errors and/or implement decisions involving retroactivity
• Providing advice and input into initiatives that support the Agency’s plans and priorities
FCAC is a separate agency that offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core federal public service. In addition, you will benefit from a minimum of four (4) weeks of vacation leave per year, earn a competitive salary, and be eligible for an annual performance pay. The immediate need is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis.
This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security profiles and various tenures.

• Matching individual experience assets or qualifications to the need of the Agency;

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of training and experience
An acceptable combination is defined as having completed modules 1 and 2 of the Training Program for Compensation Advisors, and two (2) years of experience processing a variety of transactions in the Phoenix pay system.
Recent* and significant** experience in providing expert compensation and benefits advice to clients within the Federal Public Service
Recent* and significant** experience in investigating and resolving pay related issues arising from the Phoenix pay system
Recent* and significant** experience in processing pay related transactions in the Phoenix pay system as a Compensation Advisor
*Recent is defined as experience acquired over the last three (3) years.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various complex related activities for a minimum of two (2) years.
Experience in using MyGCHR (Peoplesoft 9.1) as an HR Professional
Experience preparing a variety of documents, such as presentations, reports or briefing notes
Experience using advanced Excel features, such as Pivot Tables, Formulas or AutoFilters
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of regulations, collective agreements, policies and procedures relevant to compensation and benefits
Knowledge of the interrelationship between compensation and the various human resources disciplines
