In this role, you will:
• Become an expert in many key Ontario industries
• Support improved labour market outcomes for vulnerable segments of the labour market (youth, seniors, Indigenous peoples, newcomers, etc.)
• Partner with various stakeholders and professional organizations on local labour market issues
• Create innovative labour market products that respond to current and emerging socio-economic trends impacting Ontario
• Conduct analysis and forecasting of Ontario’s labour market and demographic data in support of regional decision-making.

Our regional Toronto office is located at the exciting area of Yonge and Sheppard!

We will be using this pool to staff current and anticipatory positions in our regional Toronto office, for a variety of tenures including temporary (casual, specified period term) or permanent (indeterminate) positions. This pool may also be used to staff similar positions within ESDC with various position titles and language requirements.

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
You must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:
• Recent* and significant** experience using quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection, preparation and analysis.
• Recent* and significant** experience conducting research and analysis on labour market and/or socio-economic topics.
• Recent* and significant** experience preparing, developing and presenting written and verbal reports resulting from labour market and/or socio-economic research or analysis.
• Recent* and significant** experience synthesizing complex information and providing advice to management on the implications of economic, labour market and/or socio-economic topics for either planning or program delivery.
• Significant** experience working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. For example, members of the public and clients; public and private organizations; federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments; universities and external research organizations; indigenous groups; and international organizations.
*Recent is defined as within the last five years.
** Significant is defined as depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities acquired over a total period of one year.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of the economic environment, labour market conditions as well as emerging socio-economic trends affecting Canada’s labour market
• Knowledge of economic and statistical analysis concepts pertaining specifically to macro-economics, socio-economic and labour market indicators.
• Knowledge of statistical modelling principles, tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of Service Canada’s mandate, and programs and services as they relate to the Canadian labour market..
