Duties

Manages the information in MCM Applications for the Coordinated Investigative team.

Provides information management services including the business analysis and planning, to facilitate the collection, retrieval, sharing and analysis of investigative material obtained and generated during investigations.

Supervises one to three people, including training, mentoring, and managing performance.

Work environment

Major Case Management Operation Service Centre (MCMOSC) provides client, technical and compliance services for the electronic management of information and infrastructure for major cases. MCMOSC staff provide essential support to operational units with the creation, organization, auditing and general management of major case files, as well as providing significant assistance to investigators in the compilation of disclosure packages. MCMOSC also delivers training in electronic file management systems as well as the continuing development of policies and business rules for the implementation of these systems in consultation with the Criminal Justice Branch, Public Prosecution Service Canada, various investigative bodies and working groups.

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

It is important to note that the work involves dealing with information that may be emotionally disturbing. Psychological and emotional effort is required to maintain composure when exposed to graphic and specific descriptions of violent crimes.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish 5 pools of qualified candidates in each of the stated geographic locations: Surrey, Kelowna, Victoria, Nanaimo and Prince George, BC. You must therefore clearly identify which location(s) you are applying to. Each pool is intended to be inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); for various similar positions with various tenures and security profiles.

Once established, each pool will be valid for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Degree equivalency

(EX1) *Recent experience managing information in a relational database.
(EX2) Recent experience working with advanced features in Microsoft Office and/or Adobe Acrobat such as inserting hyperlinks, bookmarking, and using formulae.
(EX3) Experience in creating reports using Business Intelligence (BI) applications such as Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting.
(EX4) Recent experience in coaching, mentoring, or supervising one or more staff.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Obtain a valid reliability status/security clearance at a minimum of Enhanced reliability status. Some positions may also require Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
