These positions are located in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Candidates applying from outside of Iqaluit must be willing to relocate to Iqaluit. Relocation assistance is available.
The base salary for the program officer positions range from $61,558 – $66,324.
A northern Isolated Post Allowance (IPA): Provided in addition to regular salary, which ranges from $16,613 for a single person up to $27,689 for an employee with dependents.
Vacation Travel Assistance (VTA): Provided twice per year, for each member of the household (approximately $2,700.00 per adult / $2,400 per child). Rates change twice a year.
Subsidized federal government housing is available.
As the Program Officer with Pilimmaksaivik you will be directly supporting two Program Managers and the Director of Pilimmaksaivik in the development and implementation of federal Inuit employment and pre-employment training plans. This will involve project coordination, cooperating with various federal departments and agencies as well as external partners such as Inuit organizations and the Government of Nunavut.
You will quickly gain a breadth of knowledge and experience as you work with partners and stakeholders to develop and implement training and other initiatives to support increasing Inuit employment in the Nunavut-based Government of Canada positions.
Located in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Pilimmaksaivik (the Federal Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment in Nunavut) was created to support the Government of Canada build toward a representative public service in Nunavut, including its obligations under Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement.
The intent of this selection process is to staff 2 positions: 1 full time indeterminate position and 1 full time term position ending August 2020. A pool of qualified candidates will be created to fill similar positions when they become available.
For this selection process, applicants will be considered in the following order:
(1) Those who identify themselves as Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement);
(2) If there are no qualified Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, all Canadian residents will be considered for the position.

In other cases, the manager may assess all applicants at the same time and apply the organizational need criteria on a case by case basis when a Nunavut Inuk is found qualified.
