If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

How does this process work? Please read below to find out!

Step 1: Apply Online
Your application and resume (no cover letter required) is randomly selected from the inventory. Decisions on further assessment may be based on the extent of your experience, so ensure your information is up to date! Ensure you answer the screening questions with sufficient details to allow hiring managers to fully understand WHERE you gained the experience, WHEN you gained the experience, and HOW you’ve used those skills.

Step 2: Interview
If you are screened in, you will be invited to a short interview.

Step 3: References and Security
If you are successful in the interview, references may be contacted as the final phase of assessment. *If you are the selected candidate for the position, you will be contacted to complete the Security screening.

Applications must be submitted through www.canada.ca/government-jobs.

Candidates who apply on this selection process must include in their application a valid email address and to make sure that this address is functional at all times and accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email). We recommend adding the contact email at the bottom of the poster to your list of contacts. Failure to respond in a prescribed timeframe may result in elimination from this process.

Duties

The role of the Storesperson is to perform warehousing and distribution activities such as receipts, warehousing and issues. If you are hired, you will be expected to carry out receipt of materiel, warehousing of materiel, and issuing of materiel, and will also have to identify, investigate, and resolve any discrepancies. As our ideal candidate, you have computer skills so that you are able to input data and queries, produce reports on various database systems, and operate related computer software. It’s not all computers though – you’ll also be expected to operate warehousing and materiel handling equipment (MHE) and vehicles.

Work environment

CFB Suffield is considered to be a semi-isolated base. We are located approximately 50 kms north west of the City of Medicine Hat in the southeast corner of Alberta. Most of the civilian personnel who work at the base live either in Medicine Hat or in the small town of Redcliff just to the west of the Medicine Hat city limits. This is an important point to note as there is no accommodation on the base and there is no public transportation to the base. Personnel either drive their own vehicle or car pool with others. Commuting assistance is provided for employees who live in Medicine Hat or Redcliff. For other information on the City of Medicine Hat, I suggest you look at their website at www.medicinehat.ca. For information on CFB Suffield, please visit: http://www.army-armee.forces.gc.ca/en/cfb-suffield/index.page

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent, temporary, or casual basis with various security requirements and language profiles.
